The Real McCoy's products are the result of many years of research and most of the elements in the collection are based on originals from the immense vintage collection of the founder of Hitoshi Tsujimoto.

Tsujimoto's obsession with American clothing originally began in 1978 during a 40-day trip across America. Hitoshi Tsujimoto was only 18 at the time. At the end of this "initiatory" trip, he returned to Japan with jeans, sports jerseys and sweatshirts, which he quickly sold in Osaka.
In the mid-1980s, the Japanese vintage industry was just beginning to take off. Hitoshi Tsujimoto opened a small vintage clothing store in Amerikamura, an area of ​​Osaka that has since become the Japanese epicenter for "historical" American fashion.

According to Tsujimoto, the greatest innovation in the history of clothing was the invention of jeans. It was THE garment that conquered the world. But with jeans, as with everything, Tsujimoto is not content to simply imitate or reproduce.
Hitoshi Tsujimoto said: "It's not that difficult to make something that's one hundred percent the same as the original."

“The key is not only getting the details perfect, but also knowing how to change things.” Tsujimoto continues. “We create something that looks ‘better’.”

Basically, Tsujimoto started The Real McCoy's because he wanted to sell the quintessential vintage clothing to the world. While many others have done it before him, no one has done it like Tsujimoto when it comes to redesigning and reconstructing iconic American military or sports pieces. While the Japanese are generally known for their attention to detail, The Real McCoy's not only does it better than their competitors, but probably better than the originals made in the USA half a century ago.
